MARBLE BEACH
Marble Beach is one of the most beautiful and unusual beaches on the Greek island of Thassos. The beach is located on the east coast of the island, not far from the marble quarry. Marble Beach bears its name for a reason – its surface is completely covered with marble chips instead of the usual sand or pebbles. It looks incredibly beautiful: the marble chips are absolutely white, and the beach literally sparkles in the rays of the bright Greek sun. Marble Beach also boasts all the amenities – there is a toilet, changing cabins, comfortable sun loungers, sun umbrellas and a small cafe with soft drinks and snacks. Entrance to the beach is absolutely free, and to use a sun lounger, you need to buy something at a local bar. Another undoubted advantage of this place is its isolation: Marble Beach is located a forty-minute walk from the nearest hotel, so it is never crowded. Of course, the remoteness of the beach scares off all lazy swimmers, but this place is still worth a visit. Marble Beach is truly a paradise, a real pearl of Thassos.
TSAMBIKA BEACH
Tsambika is one of the most beautiful beaches in Rhodes. This is a long sandy beach with golden sand, clear water and many colorful flags indicating the location of cafes, restaurants and sports centers. Every year, many tourists of all ages and nationalities come here to enjoy the magnificent scenery and swim in the clear emerald water. The beach is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas. Not far from the beach, near the bus stop, there is a small mini-market. On the mountain near the beach, there is the monastery of the Virgin Mary Tsambiki, after which the beach got its name. The Virgin Mary Tsambika is believed to work miracles. Young women who find it difficult to get pregnant often come to her. If their prayers are answered, then in gratitude, they should give the child the name Tsambika if the child is a girl or Tsambikus if the child is born a boy.
NAVAJO BAY
“Navajo” is translated from Greek as “shipwreck”. Therefore, in English, the bay is often called Shipwreck. The name of this place was given by the story that happened with the small ship “Panagiotis”. In 1980, the ship, carrying smuggled tobacco from Turkey to Italy, was pursued by Greek coastal police and ended up running aground. At first, they wanted to tow it away from there, but they didn’t. And now, the smuggling vessel has become a symbol of the entire island. It is impossible to approach the beach from the shore; the path to it is open only from the sea and only during daylight hours. Snow-white sand and crystal clear sea water next to the picturesque cliffs surrounding the beach make an indelible impression on vacationers. The water here is a rich blue colour. This colour is given to the water by a large number of chalk deposits on the bottom of the sea. To swim and lie on the fine white pebbles of the beach, you need to take a cruise around the island. Boats depart in the morning every day and make a 1.5-hour stop so that everyone has time to swim and enjoy the amazing atmosphere of this island.
BALOS BAY
A truly heavenly holiday destination in Greece is Balos Bay on the northwestern coast of Crete, where three seas wash the coast at once: the Aegean, Libyan and Ionian. You can get to Balos by car (preferably a jeep since the road is difficult), or, which is easier but more beautiful, by ship, and at the same time admire this bay from the sea. Particularly noteworthy is the beautiful beach of Balos Bay, very beloved by tourists. Balos Beach, located 60 km from the city of Chania, is considered the most beautiful beach in the region. The beach is located on the northwestern edge of the island of Crete, on the Gramvousa peninsula. The beach is wild and has practically nothing but stunning shores and a magnificent and clean sea. Finding sun loungers or even sun loungers is almost impossible, but this has its charm. The water of the bay is saturated with a unique composition of minerals that form the extraordinary phenomenon of azure water. Scientists have calculated that there are about 14 shades in the waters of the bay. It is worth emphasizing that this particular beach is considered the most beautiful in the entire Mediterranean – it is not for nothing that Princess Diana and Prince Charles chose this particular place for their honeymoon.
BALI VILLAGE
Bali Village is a small village that is ready to offer an exceptionally calm, measured, romantic pastime. Massive mountains surround the territory of the village, the slopes of which are covered with olive groves and other pleasant-smelling southern plants, picturesque bays with a yellow sandy beach. As befits a “wild” holiday, there are no large and expensive hotels in Bali. Small hotels, along with houses of the local population, are located precisely on the above slopes. About entertainment: diving, canoe rental and fishing, taverns with incomparable raki (grape or mulberry moonshine) and other delights, as well as beaches, beaches and more beaches. To the southwest of Bali is the village of Margarites, famous for its pottery craft. Not far from Bali, there is the Melidoni cave, and a little to the west is the town of Panormo with its narrow, romantic streets.
PRASONISI PENINSULA
Prasonisi is located 90 km from the capital, Rhodes. The place is unique in that the natural peninsula is divided into two parts by a sandy isthmus. Here, two seas merge – the Mediterranean and the Aegean. That’s why this place is called “the kiss of two seas.” The entire coast of the island in this place is an endless beach with perfectly white sand, turning into crystal clear turquoise water. Translated from Greek, “Prasonisi” means “green island”. The fact is that, in essence, Prasonisi is an island connected to Rhodes by a sandy isthmus (about 500 meters long and about 100 meters wide). In summer, when the water level drops, Prasonisi ceases to be an island. In winter, when the water level rises, the isthmus is flooded. All of Rhodes is located on the border of two seas. West – Aegean, east – Mediterranean. The seas cannot be the same in temperature, and therefore, the strong wind on Prasonisi almost never subsides, making this place a real paradise for surfers. The infrastructure of Prasonisi is several taverns, a shop and two small boarding houses.
